Embracing the Cosy Season: Finding Joy in Autumn’s Charm

As the season shifts into autumn, many people experience noticeable changes in mood and energy levels. Shorter days and reduced sunlight can affect the body's production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter linked to mood regulation. This decrease in natural light can lead to feelings of sadness or lethargy, often known as the "autumn blues" or, in more extreme cases, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

However, the arrival of autumn isn't all negative. For some, the cooler weather and vibrant fall colours bring a sense of coziness and comfort. The transition into sweater weather, warm drinks, a roaring fire and a good box set can evoke feelings of nostalgia and contentment.

The Scandinavians have long bought into this feeling, Hygge (pronounced "hoo-gah") is a Danish and Norwegian concept that captures the feeling of coziness, comfort, and well-being. Rooted deeply in Scandinavian culture, hygge is all about creating a warm, relaxed atmosphere and enjoying the simple pleasures of life, especially with loved ones.
